Cambodia look towards possible reopening as daily cases remain low for 11th consecutive day

After 7 days of daily new case figures above 800 cases a day, Cambodia saw the 11th day of dramatic drops in new cases today.

Today’s official daily new COVID case total was 258, bringing the COVID case total to 115,068 cases.

The World Health Organisation has backed PM Hun Sen’s statement that Cambodia can fully reopen its economy across all sectors if the COVID-19 situation post Pchum Ben remains stable at current levels for at least 10-15 consecutive days

The PM said at the weekend: “The current COVID-19 situation remains stable with with less than 20 deaths per day as well as less than 300 cases recorded per day. If the situation remains as it is for the next 10 to 15 days, then I think it is time to reopen the economy and society across all sectors under the new normal concept,”

Meanwhile, Thailand plans to implement travel bubbles this year with Cambodia along borders such as Trat province and Cambodia’s Koh Kong province.

The total number of Community Cases is now 95,851 with 19,217 cases being imported.

16 imported cases were announced today as imported cases seemed to almost dry up.Cambodia also announced 21 new deaths, bringing the total to 2527 direct deaths from COVID-19 in Cambodia.
