Cambodia’s community COVID cases surge above 800 for 5th day running with highest new case total since July 16th

For the 5th day running, new cases were above 800 as Cambodia recorded it’s highest daily new cases since July the 16th – and it’s highest COVID related death rate since August 3rd.

The Kingdom has seen a surge in domestic cases related to the recent ‘pagoda outbreaks’ in Phnom Penh and Battambang, and in the ongoing hotspot of Siem Reap.

These ‘community cases’ are now massively higher than the daily imported cases.

Today’s official daily new COVID case total was 866, bringing the COVID case total to 110,792 cases.

The total number of Community Cases is now 91,955 with 18,837 cases being imported.

Active COVID cases have surged to 6,808 active cases.

Unfortunately, the ongoing policy to stop releasing any provincial figures has meant that it is now difficult to gauge the true spread of COVID in Cambodia.

Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Siem Reap, Battambang and Preah Vihear provinces, all frontline provinces, are facing a daily deluge of Cambodian migrant workers who are returning from Thailand.
