Lower daily case totals again for Cambodia, despite higher reported provincial figures

Official daily COVID case numbers were once again much lower than expected, despite much higher provincial numbers being reported – especially from Banteay Meanchey province –  indicating that case numbers may soon be significantly higher.

Cambodia today announced an official daily new cases total of 519, bringing the COVID case total to 88,242 cases.

The total number of Community Cases is now 74,438 with 13,804 cases being imported.

185 imported cases were announced today as imported case numbers continue to be higher as a consequence of the Thai border reopening last week.

Provincial cases continue to rise, showing that the provinces – and especially the 8 provinces bordering Thailand – are at the vanguard of Cambodia’s fight against COVID.

Banteay Meanchey province, in particular, is currently experiencing a ‘surge’ in COVID cases – with the news that,  in addition to the 601  COVID cases found at a drug addiction treatment centre in the province, another 314 cases were also found yesterday in the province – indicating that a major surge of new cases is on it’s way.
