Takeo today has become the latest province to be affected by the February 20 Event, the community outbreak which started in Phnom Penh, as the authority confirmed the first case in the province this morning.
According to the Ministry of Health, a 36-year-old Cambodian man has tested positive in Samroung district’s Ponleu Village. The patient has been identified as a sanitation worker at Cintri who arrived in Takeo from Phnom Penh on March 13.
The specific information a on how he had been infected with the virus is not known yet.
The patient is now receiving treatment at Takeo Provincial Hospital while his wife and two children are quarantined at the designated Seven Day Hotel in the province.
The authorities are now tracing the people who had been directly and indirectly in contact with the family.
