55,000 apply for 9,000 university scholarships

Over 55,000 high school students have applied for around 9,000 available scholarships from both public and private higher education institutions, according to the Ministry of Education.

Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron said that as of Friday last week, there were already a total of 55,143 students recorded having applied for full scholarships from 19 public and private higher education institutions. Of these applicants 34,363 are girls.

The ministry announced that there are a total of 9,130 full scholarships being offered by 39 public and private higher education institutions for the academic year 2020-2021, in which 1,324 places are allocated for female students, 1,738 for poor students, 578 for students from remote areas and 5,490 for general students.
