Sovereign and Proud: King leads nation in marking 67th anniversary of independence from France

King Norodom Sihamoni led the nation in celebrating the 67th anniversary of Cambodia’s independence from France yesterday.

The King lit the “victory flame” at the Independence Monument, where top leaders, government officials and members of the public gathered to mark the occasion.

Crowds wore masks and followed COVID-19 preventive measures at the gathering.

The celebration was held without Prime Minister Hun Sen this year as he is in self-quarantine following exposure to Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó who tested positive for COVID-19 a day after visiting Cambodia.
